“LIVE Auction” launches (approved sellers only, up to ¥500,000 per item)

Last updated Sep 28, 20262 sources
IN SHORT

A feature where viewers bid and buy during a LIVE stream has launched. It's only for sellers who pass review, prices are capped at ¥500,000 per item, and second-hand goods require a secondhand dealer's license and purchase records.

What to do

3 items
  1. Check whether it's available for your category

Requirements and licenses differ by product category; details are in TikTok Shop Academy. At launch (Apr 8, 2026), only some categories were open for second-hand goods, with more to be added gradually.

  2. If you sell second-hand goods, prepare the documents first

Second-hand sellers must submit purchase records in addition to a secondhand dealer's license. Second-hand trading cards priced above ¥30,000 require a certificate from an authorized grading company.

  3. Choose products whose price is set on the spot

TikTok said it would start with limited-quantity brand collaborations and pre-release products. Rare items whose price is set on the spot make better use of this mechanism than staple products that sell at list price.

A feature that lets viewers bid in real time during a LIVE stream and buy. Bidding is shown during the stream and the price is set on the spot. Only sellers who pass TikTok Shop's strict advance review can use it; sellers of second-hand goods must submit a secondhand dealer's license (kobutsushō permit) and purchase records. The cap on sale and bid prices is ¥500,000 per item, and second-hand trading cards priced above ¥30,000 require a certificate from an authorized grading company. Requirements and licenses differ by product category, and at launch only some categories were open for second-hand goods (to be expanded gradually).
