Measures against counterfeits and IP infringement (IP Protection Center, partnership with IIPPF)

Last updated Sep 28, 20262 sources
IN SHORT

Rights holders report infringement through the “IP Protection Center”, and if TikTok Shop judges the evidence sufficient, the listing is taken down. TikTok Shop has strengthened its measures by partnering with IIPPF (secretariat: JETRO) in August 2025 and joining the anti-counterfeiting group AACD in June 2026.

What to do

3 items
  1. If you sell branded goods, be able to show proof of legitimate sourcing right away

When TikTok Shop judges a reported listing sufficiently proven to infringe, it notifies the seller and takes the listing down. Keep documents that prove legitimate sourcing — supplier invoices, distributor contracts — retrievable for each product.

  2. If you own a brand, register in the IP Protection Center

Rights holders create an account and register their IP, and when they find an infringing listing on TikTok Shop they can report it with seller and shop details and evidence.

  3. Make authenticity checks for second-hand and parallel-imported branded goods part of your process

AACD was founded in 1998 to prevent and eliminate counterfeit and illicit goods in the parallel-import market, and has its own product-handling standards. When it joined, TikTok Shop said it was also looking at expanding into areas including second-hand goods.

Impact
TikTok Shop signed a memorandum on protecting intellectual property with the Internet Project Team of the International Intellectual Property Protection Forum (IIPPF), whose secretariat is JETRO (signed at a July 17, 2025 exchange meeting). Rights holders register their IP in the “IP Protection Center” and can report infringing listings found on TikTok Shop, attaching seller and shop details and evidence of infringement. If TikTok Shop's IP protection team judges the information sufficient, it notifies the seller of the infringement and takes the listing down. On Jun 23, 2026, TikTok Shop joined the Association for Anti-Counterfeiting Distribution (AACD), a group working to eliminate counterfeit and illicit goods, as a supporting member, and said it was also looking at expanding into areas including second-hand luxury brand goods.
